اقتضت خطة هذه الدراسة أن تكون في تمهيد تسبقه مقدمة وتليه ثلاثة فصول متلوة بخاتمة ومصادر البحث ومراجعه، أما التمهيد، فتضمن دراسة (تعدد المعنى الوظيفية للصيغة الواحدة) متناولا ثلاث نقاط هي : أولا : مفهوم الصيغة الصرفية، ثانيا : مفهوم المعنى الوظيفي، ثالثا : تعدد المعنى الوظيفي وأما الفصول، فكان الفصل الأول بعنوان : (افعل التفضيل وحالاته) واشتمل على أربعة مباحث هي : المبحث الأول : مفهومه وشروطه صياغته، المبحث الثاني : حالاته من حيث اللفظ، المبحث الثالث : حالاته من حيث المعنى، المبحث الرابع : حالاته من حيث الإنطلاق والتقييد.
