يهتم بالهويات الكبرى شكلت السرديات الكبرى (العقل والعلم والتقدم والديمقراطية والثورة) عصر الحداثة، وكان عصرا (الهوية الليبرالية، الهوية الماركسية، الهوية القومية، الهوية الإسلامية)، لكن الجامعة التي تحاول أن تنتج مجتمعا فاضلا عصر الحداثة انتهى بالإخفاق، وفقدت السرديات الكبرى مصداقيتها بصرف النظر عن طريقة التوحيد التي تستخدمها، فقد أنتجت هويات كبرى لم تسمح بالتعددية والإختلاف، وكانت ذات طبيعة سلطوية وإقصائية، وخلقت هويات شمولية استطاعت أن تضبط المجتمع وهوياته الفرعية المختلفة، التي هي أشبه ببركان، بالقوة.
