يتناول المؤلف في هذا الكتاب دراسة الطاقة النووية والذرية بشكل مفصل ومتعمق، بدءا من التعريفات العلمية والاصطلاحية مرروا بالاستخدامات والتطبيقات المختلفة ولقد قسم المؤلف هذا الكتاب إلى سبعة فصول، حيث إنه تحدث في الفصل الأول عن الطاقة النووية والذرية واليورانيوم، ثم تناول في الفصل الثاني الانشطار والاندماج النووي، وبعد ذلك تناول في الفصل الثالث السلاح النووي أما الفصل الرابع فقد تناول فيه مشروع منهاتن، والهجوم النووي على هيروشيما وناجازاكي ثم جاء الفصل الخامس ليتحدث فيه عن مجالات استخدام الطاقة الذرية المحدودة ومستقبلها ثم جاء الفصل السادس ليتحدث فيه عن الحوادث النووية في العالم وأخيرا، تناول في الفصل السابع الأزمات النووية في العالم.
