يقدم الكتاب صورة \"للأنا\" في شعر محمود درويش في الفترة من 1995 -2008 توزعت على ثلاثة فصول جاء الفصل الأول بعنوان \"تحول الأنا\" وفيه تتبعت الكاتبة تحول الأنا الشعرية من \"الأنا الجماعية\" وأما الفصل الثاني فجاء بعنوان \"الأنا في مرآة الذات\" وقد ربطت الكاتبة فيه بين مفهوم \"المرأة\" ومفهوم \"تأمل الذات\" عند محمود درويش بحيث تصبح الذات مرآة يطل فيها الشاعر على عالمه الداخلي ويأتي الفصل الثالث والأخير بعنوان \"الآخر في مرآة الأنا\" وقد هدفت الكاتبة فيه إلى محاولة الكشف عن موقف الأنا من الآخر المادي والمعنوي ودرست فيه ثنائية \"الموت والحياة\" والأنا والآخر سياسيا والأنا والآخر عاطفيا.
