مازالت ظاهرة العولمة تتصدر معظم الكتابات المعاصرة وفي شتى المجالات الفكرية ولكن الشيء اللافت للانتباه هو دخول الأنثروبولوجيا إلى ساحة التنظير والتحليل لتلك الظاهرة الكونية والمهتم أصلا بالمجتمعات البسيطة وبالتوجهات المحلية والناجمة عن جذوره ومناهجه ومعالجاته الخاصة بأطره الضيقة النطاق. وإزاء هذه التحولات العالمية الكبرى التي ترتبت على ظاهرة العولمة حاول بعض علماء الأنثروبولوجيا المعاصرين مراجعة أطرهم النظرية والاستفادة منها في تفسير جذور هذه الظاهرة وتداعياتها.
