تناول الكتاب إن الوعي بأهمية تطوير المناهج واستخدام التقنية في تطوير المناهج عامل حيوي فعال، وكذلك المواكبة المستمرة للتطوير والتدريب والتأهيل، وتطوير طرق التدريس للمادة، وتأليف الكتاب الجيد، وتحقيق الترابط والتكامل بين المواد الدراسية، وربط المعلومات بالحياة العملية والتقنيات المعاصرة، وإيجاد الوسائل الفعالة لتنمية مهارات التفكير الإبداعي، وإيجاد التوازن بين الجوانب النظرية والجوانب العملية في المنهج. كما أن تطوير المناهج مطلب تربوي واقتصادي واجتماعي، وذلك يتطلب السعي الحثيث من أجل تحقيق تطابق المناهج مع التطلعات والأهداف الطموحة. ولا شك أن هناك جهودا تبذل في هذا الميدان (تطوير المناهج) ؛ حيث نرى عددا من اللجان والأسر الوطنية في إطار المساعي الهادفة إلى تحديث أنظمة التعليم وإدخال التعديلات اللازمة على المنهج.
