مع تطور الأحداث على الساحات الدولية، وتدهور الأوضاع الأمنية في بعض دول الجوار، تضاعفت جهود الأجهزة الأمنية في أدوارها في الحفاظ على أمن الوطن والمواطن، رعاية سلامته، فدور الجانب الأمني في حماية وحفظ أمن المواطن، الذي يتوافق تماما مع أعظم مقاصد الشريعة الإسلامية الخمس، وهي حفظ الدين والنفس والعقل والنسل والمال. منا هنا جاءت أهمية ربط علم النفس بفروعه مع العمل الأمني، فصار لابد من علم يوحد كل المهارات الأكاديمية بعلم الأمن بحيث يصبح منهجا موحدا شاملا هو علم نفس أمني حديث، وقد تناولنا في الكتاب بعض العلوم النفسية والتربوية والمهارات الإتصالية، التي توطد علاقة علم النفس بالأمن.
