يتناول كتاب (الإنسان والبيئة : دراسة في التربية البيئية) والذي قامه بتأليفه (راتب سلامة السعود) في حوالي (295) صفحة من القطع المتوسط موضوع (التربية البيئية) مستعرضا المحتويات التالية هذا كتاب تثقيفي.. ولعل ما يميز الكتاب التثقيفي أنه لا يخاطب قطاعا معينا من الناس، ولا يستهدف فئة عمرية محددة، وإنما يستهدف قطاعات المجتمع كافة، وإن كان طلبة الجامعات هم أكثر الفئات استهدافا. إن اهتمامي بقضايا البيئة قد تنامى منذ أن أتيحت لي فرصة تدريس مادة الإنسان والبيئة في جامعة عمان الأهلية منذ عام 1996 ميلادي ولقد أتيحت لي الفرصة أن أطلع على عشرات الكتب والدراسات والمقالات باللغتين العربية والإنجليزية، والتي تناولت موضوع البيئة، ومشكلاتها، وطرق حمايتها، من منظورات كثيرة، إلا أنني لم أعثر على كتاب يعرض مشكلات البيئة بإسهاب لا ملل فيه، ويحدد وسائل حماية البيئة بتفصيل لا لبس فيه، فكان هذا الكتاب.
