هذا الكتاب تأليف عبد الحميد زوزو بعنوان \"النظام الجبائي في بايلك الشرق خلال حكم احمد باي\" حيث سلط فيه الضوء على مقاومة أحمد باي للحضور الفرنسي منذ أن دخل البلاد حيث شارك في معركة سطاوالي حيث كان يجتمع حوله الأعيان يساندونه ويشيرون عليه ويذكر الكتاب أن أحمد باي تمكن من صد الحملة الفرنسية الأولى على قسنطينة بقيادة الجنرال كلوزيل في خريف سنة 1836م بفضل التحصينات التي أقامها خليفته علي بن عيسى الفرقاني ويضيف عبد الحميد بوزوزو أن أحمد باي تعرض للخيانة من طرف مقربيه الذين إنضموا إلى الفرنسيين وحاربوه وحرضوا عليه بينما كان هو رافضا لكن المقترحات الفرنسية بالقيادة كما سرد صاحب الكتاب مختلف الدراسات والأبحاث والأطروحات التي قدمت حول بايلك الشرق وتنظيمه الإداري والاقتصادي.
