يتناول كتاب (أزمة الهويات) والذي قام بتأليفه (كلود دوبار) في حوالي (407) صفحة من القطع المتوسط موضوع (الهوية الجماعية) مستعرضا المحتويات التالية : يقدم الكتاب حصيلة للتغيرات التي عاشها المجتمع الفرنسي منذ ستينات القرن العشرين في مجال الحياة الخاصة وحياة العلم والمعتقدات الرمزية (الدين والسياسة) وهو يربطها بثلاث سيرورات شهدت في الفترة الأخيرة تطورات ذات دلالة، سيرورة انعتاق النساء وسيرورة العقلنة الاقتصادية وسيرورة خصخصة المعتقدات وهو يقترح التفسيرات التالية، فقدت أشكال مماثلة الأفراد السابقة (الثقافية، المجتمعية) شرعيتها ولم ينجز حتى الآن تشكل الأشكال الجديدة (التأملية، السردية) ولا الاعتراف بها.
