يتناول الكتاب حيث تكتسب النصوص التي بين أيدينا أهمية كبيرة لسبب بسيط وحيوي، وهي أنها تتضمن الكثير من النصوص الغنائية الجديدة أو المتفردة، أي تلك التي لم يسبق أن ظهرت في مصادر مكتوبة ومعروفة، والفضل في هذه الميزة يعود - بالتأكيد - إلى الباحثة صاحبة الهمة د. نهى قسيس نفل التي جهدت وكدت خلال التسعينيات من القرن الماضي وهي تجمع هذه المادة من أفواه أصحابها وقائليها مستغلة زياراتها، وقد استغلت الباحثة كل للضفة الغربية خلال وجودها في أمريكا وعلى مدى أكثر من عشرين عاما المناسبات المتاحة لجمع ما يمكن جمعه من النصوص، وهذه بحد ذاتها ميزة أمدتنا بالكثير من النصوص بتلقائيتها وحيويتها. ومع أن النصوص التي جمعتها الباحثة كانت تكفي لتقديم هذا الكتاب التوثيقي للنشر بما فيه من نصوص جديدة.
