هذا الكتاب يمثل أحدث وأجمع وأروع ما كتب خالد محمد خالد عن الديمقراطية، وهو يتحدث عن: الديمقراطية أولاً.. وأبداً.. وجميعها، وعن تجربتنا مع الديمقراطية إبتداء من عام 1924 حتى يوليو 1952... ثم من هذا التاريخ إلى يومنا هذا.. ثم يتحدث في إفاضة عن \"الديمقراطية، والإسلام\"، حديثنا يشفى صدور المؤمنين، إذ يكشف عن عظمة الدور الذي قام به الإسلام الحنيف ليجعل من الناس أبراراً، وأحراراً.. وليجعل من الحكم سلطة للشعب، لا تسلطاً على الشعب. وبعد ذلك يحمل الجزء الأخير من الكتاب نص الحوار التاريخى الذى دار بين كاتبنا، والرئيس الراحل جمال عبد الناصر في اجتماعات \"اللجنة التحضيرية\" التي انعقدت فى بداية عام 1962... إنه كتاب يحئ في أوانه : يجيء والحاجة إليه أعظم ما تكون.
