كتاب \"شرح القصائد التسع المشهورات\" يتضمن الكثير من آراء المؤلف النحوية، وآراء غيره من علماء المذهبين وخلافاتهم، مطبقة على نصوص من الشعر الجاهلي ؛ ويقوم بحثه على دراسة عامة سبقت تحقيق الكتاب، بناه المؤلف على خمسة فصول، تناول فيهم حياة النحاس وموقفه من علماء المذاهب النحوية والقرّاء، و المعلقات بأسماءها وسبب تسميتها، وأهمية شرح النحاس أظهر فيه قيمته، ثم استعرض العلوم التي تناول فيه دراسات قرآنية ودراسات لغوية ودراسات صرفية وتناول نسخ الكتاب، وسبب تفضيل الأصل و تحقيق نص الكتاب وتحقيق شرح النحاس لها.
