لقد بحث المؤلف في هذا الكتاب عن أسباب الوأد عند العرب لماذا وأدوا بناتهم ولماذا اختاروا الدفن لهن وهن أحياء ولماذا لم يقتلوهن بطريقة غير الدفن لذلك جمع الروايات والنصوص والآثار التي تحدثت عن القضية بكاملها من مصادرها الأساسية وخلال بحثه لم يجد دليلا صالحا يوثق به على حدود الوأد عند العرب بطريقة التي نقلت إلى الروايات والأخبار ولهذا السبب حاول في هذه الصفحات مناقشة القضية مستعينا بالله تعالى ثم الأدلة ولذلك ليبين جانب من الحقيقة الذي وصل إليه.
