يأتي الكتاب ليبحث في طرائق الفصل الاستشرابية (الكروماتوغرافية) وبشكل خاص تلك الطرائق التي تستخدم على نطاق واسع في مجال التحاليل الدوائية على إختلاف أنواعها الكيفية كانت أو الكمية والتي اعتمدتها دساتير الأدوية المختلفة بدا بطرائق الاستشراب على الطبقة الرقيقة مرورا بطرائق الاستشراب الغازي ووصولا لطرائق الاستشراب السائل عالي الأداء الذي بات لا غنى عنه في أي مخبر من مخابر الرقابة الدوائية حيث لا تستخدم هذه الطرائق بالكشف عن المواد الدواية ومعايرتها وتحديد الشوائب فيها وحسب وإنما باتت لا يستغنى عنها في دراسات الثبات ذلك أن كثيرا من طرائق التحليل الأخرى لا تعتبر طرائق مؤشرة للثبات.
