تناول هذا الكتاب الموسوم \"تاريخ الخليج العربي من أقدم الأزمنة حتى التحرير العربي\" مواضيع متعددة ومهمة بدءا بتركيزه على التسمية العربية للخليج العربي عند سترابون الذي أطلق عليه \"ساينوس أرابيكوس\" وانتهاء بالمعارف الفنية والعلمية العربية في أقطار الخليج العربي. وقد قسم الدكتور الأحمد موضوع كتابه على شكل فترات تاريخية متميزة بعطائها الحضاري وهي : العصور الحجرية والحجرية المعدنية، وفترة حضارة أم النار التي امتدت من سنة (3000- 2500 ق.م) ثم فترة حضارة باربار التي امتدت من سنة (2500-2000 ق.م) ثم فترة سلالة أرض البحر الأولى من سنة 2000-1200 ق.م) وفترة سلالة البحر الثانية المتدة من (1200-540 ق.م)
