يتناول الكتاب أحداثا تاريخية خلال فترة الستينات والسبعينات من القرن الماضي أيام ثورة تحرير ظفار جنوب عمان، عرض الرواية تنوع بين نقل جوانب ثورات مشابهة خلال تلك الفترة لأشخاص كان دورهم شبه ثانوي في الرواية، تفنن الكاتب كذلك في الحديث عن اسطنبول وتركيا بشكل عام التي كانت مسرح لمعظم أحداث الرواية، صورة الصوفي كانت حاضرة هنا في عمل علي المعمري الذي كان يدور بحثا عن الخلاص كما كان مولاه جلال الدين الرومي وهو الشي الذي اضاف بعدا آخر للرواية.
