يستعرض هذا الكتاب العلاقات الدولية منذ بداية القرن العشرين، وحتى نهاية الحرب العالمية الثانية متطرقين إلى سياسات الدول الكبرى ذات الشأن على الساحة الدولية. وسنبحث في هذه الفترة العلاقات بين هذه الدول، وفي تحالفاتها ومصالحها. كما سيتطرق إلى الوضع الدولي قبل الحرب العالمية الأولى، والدول الفاعلة في العلاقات الدولية في تلك الفترة، و سندرس العلاقات الدولية في فترة الحرب العالمية الأولى، وانقسام العالم إلى معسكرين متناقضين والدول المنضوية تحت جناحيهما، ويبحث في مؤتمر الصلح في باريس عام 1919، والمعاهدات الخمس التي نجمت عنه بين الدول المنتصرة والدول المهزومة.
