هذا الكتاب جملة من البحوث اللغوية وتبلغ هذه البحوث أو المذكرات مائة وعشرين وهو قدر مناسب يمكن أن تنبني عليه نتائج علمية ذات أهمية بالغة ولعل هذا هو الذي أغراني بنشرها في هذا الكتاب وكنت بين الحين والحين أعود إلي بعضها وأستخرج منها ما دعاني إلي تصفحها وكنت أفكر في جمعها ونشرها وبكل أسف لم أتمكن من ذلك طوال هذه السنين وجادت الظروف هذه الأيام بتحقيق ما فكرت فيه ورجوته، أما الموضوعات فتعكس مظاهر من تطور اللغة العربية في العصر الحديث وأما منهج المعالجة فهو المنهج الذي اختطه المجمع منذ إنشائه وطوره في أثناء عمره المديد.
