تصور هذه الرواية واقع حياة مزرعة جماعية، إبان الحقبة السوفييتية، يذهب رجالها إلى الحرب ضد الغازي النازي، تستطيع النساء والفتيان إدارة عجلة العمل والتصدي لأعمال التخريب والفساد، وحماية البيئة، إنها ملحمة تشهد على عظمة النساء واستبسالهن في الكفاح من أجل الحياة، وفي هذا السياق ترسخ قيم الإخلاص للوطن والعمل والأخوة والسلام. إن هذه العناصر، بالإضافة إلى جمال الأسلوب وعمق المعالجة الدرامية للحدث الروائي وقدرة المترجم على نقلها بكفاءة عالية، أعطتها المرتبة الأولى في جائزة سامي الدروبي للترجمة-دورة 2018.
