نجح كتاب (الأقصوصة) للأكاديمي الفرنسي تياري أوزوالد في أن يرفع المظلمة عن الأقصوصة ويسد ثغرة في نظرية الأدب الغربية ناتجة عن إهمال علماء السرد دراسة الأقصوصة دراسة أجناسية متكاملة. وقد انقسم العمل إلى ثلاثة مستويات : بحث المؤلف في أولها مسألة نشأة الأقصوصة وتشكلها جنسا أدبيا مستقلا بذاته، وسعى في المستوى الثاني إلى استخلاص معالم إنشائية الأقصوصة، متوسلا إلى ذلك بدراسة وصفية نصانية تناولت ما لا يقل عن ثلاثمئة أقصوصة وفق المحاور الأساسية الكبرى في التحليل السردي (الفضاء، الزمن، الحدث، الشخصيات، السرد، الوصف)، أما في المستوى الثالث فتتبع حضور الأقصوصة في الأقصوصة اليوم في الأدب العالمي وتطور عملية تقبلها من لدن القراء.
