المعجم يهدف إلى المساهمة في تطوير البحث المعجمي الأمازيغي في اتجاه ترسيخ قواعده العلمية وتدقيق أدواته التقنية ووصف وسائله المنهجية وتفسيرها والتنبيه إلى أهميته في تنمية المجهود العلمي الأمازيغي ومن ثمة محاولة توحيد اللغة الأمازيغية والانتقال بها من التنوعات اللهجية إلى اللغة المعيار. والدراسة تسعى إلى تقديم مشروع معجمي جديد تسترشد به شريحة عريضة من القراء، تشمل التلميذ والطالب والمترجم والمبدع وكل من له اهتمام باللغة الأمازيغية ؛ كما ستمكن من الإلمام بالبعد الأمازيغي للثقافة والحضارة المغربيتين والانفتاح على الثقافات والحضارات الأخرى ؛ كما أن الكتاب يضم أكثر من 12800 كلمة ومعانيها، مصنفة حسب المجالات العلمية والتربوية والتعليمية والمهنية والثقافية.
