يتحدث الكتاب عن الموسيقى وتدريب المعاقين حيث أن الإعاقة ظاهرة ملازمة لكل المجتمعات الإنسانية وتختلف نسبة تواجدها وأنواعها وموقف المجتمعات منها باختلاف الظروف الاقتصادية والاجتماعية لها ففي العصور القديمة حينما كان يولد طفل معاق كان على والده أن يذهب به إلى شيخ القبيلة الذي يناقش والده في أسباب الإعاقة ومن ثم يعدم الطفل بأي من الطرق التالية (تركه بلا طعام أو شراب حتى الموت أو إلقائه من أعلى قمة في الجبل أو ضربه على رأسه بشدة) المهم تكون نهاية هذا الطفل عند ولاته.
