ويتكون الكتاب من خمسة فصول، يتناول فيها الشاعر جرجس شكرى العلاقة بين المسرح والثورة خلال الأربع سنوات الماضية. كما يتطرق الكتاب لعدد من التغيرات التي مر بها المجتمع المصرى منذ ثورة يناير، مشيرا إلى تهافت العاملين بمجال المسرح على استدعاء أحداث الثورة لتكون مواضيعا لأعمالهم، ناقدا تسرع البعض في عرض أحداث لم تكتمل بعد وصدر للشاعر جرجس شكرى خمسة مجموعات شعرية قبل ذلك الديوان، من بينها تفاحة لا تفهم شيئا وضرورة الكلب في المسرحية.
