يضم الكتاب مجموعة من الدراسات والنصوص النقدية وكما جاء في تقديم الكتاب فهي نصوص كتبت في أوقات متباعدة على مدى ربع قرن وتتجلى أهميتها في أنها ترسم مسارا لهاجس النقد الأدبي الأمازيغي وتطوره على امتداد هذه المرحلة وهي نصوص يميل بعضها إلى توضيح خصائص بعد الأجناس الأدبية الشفوية وخاصة منها الشعر التقليدي، كما يتجه بعضها إلى التعليق على حدث كرحيل شاعر كبير، أو إلى محاولة تحليل سياق تاريخي وسوسيو، ثقافي مثل الانتقال من الإبداع الشفوي إلى المكتوب، بينما يهتم بعضها الآخر برهانات مرحلة من مراحل الإبداع والدراسة الأدبيين ومتطلباتهما من الناحية النظرية.
