الكتاب الذي بين يدينا يهدف إلى تسليط الضوء على الأنشطة البشرية المختلفة المتسببة في التلوث البيئي وتزيد بالتالي من فرص اعتلال صحة الإنسان النفسية والفسيولوجية والاجتماعية، فإذا ما عرف السبب بطل العجب، فإذا ما عرف الإنسان أسباب مشكلة التلوث يصير بإمكانه مقاومتها وإبطال مفعولها لأجل أن يحيا سليما ومعافى على الأرض التي استخلفه الله عليها. أما الهدف الخاص من هذا الكتاب فهو منصب نحو إحداث تغيير في الاتجاهات السلوكية لدى المواطن تحارب كل شيء متسبب في التلوث وإهدار الموارد. فالمعرفة بحد ذاتها مطلوبة لكن ليست جذريا في سلوكه تجعله يتوقف عن التسبب في حدوث التلوث كافية إذا لم تخلق في الإنسان تغييرا ودفعه للقيام بالإجراءات الإيجابية التي تحد منه.
