يتناول الكتاب تعريفا بالكاتب قبيلات وثقافته وإسهاماته في الأدب وتنويرا لمداخل الأدب السريالي وعلاقته بعلم النفس الأدبي وظهور السريالية في الأدب العربي الحديث وأسس البناء في قصص سعود قبيلات من منظور سريالي والواقع وما فوق الواقع في القصص ويؤكد فيها حرص الكاتب اللافت على تصوير الواقع بتشويهه تشويها متعمدا مما أفضى إلى استخدام تقنيات غرائبية تارة وعجائبية تارة أخرى وإلى اعتماد الكوابيس وسيلة لانتقاد الوضع الاجتماعي والسياسي بعيدا عن الشعارات الإيديولوجية.
