يجمع هذا الكتاب بين دفتيه روائع من شعر \"لغن\" الحساني وهي محاولة أولى لجمع وتوثيق هذا التراث الأدبي الشفهي التي يحمل ذاكرة المجتمع الصحراوية على مدى أزيد من قرن وإذا كان \"الشعر ديوان العرب\"، كما قال أبو فراس الحمداني، ففهي هذا المقام يحق لنا أن نقول إن الشعر الحساني ديوان الصحراء. ففي مجتمع بدوي يعيش على الترحال وتقل فيه تقاليد التدوين للإنتاج الإبداعي، يشكل الشعر، الذي احتفظ به نقلا عن أفواه الرجال والنساء، مصدرا ذا قيمة عالية للباحث، لأنه لا يكتفي بتدوين نمط العيش وجماليات الأمكنة فقط، بل أيضا يعكس رؤيا وتصورات ذلك البدوي وتمثلاته للعالم ونظرته للكون. لذلك فالشعر الحساني خير مجسد للتراث غير المادي لأهل الصحراء.
