\"على باب الهوى\" سيرة ذاتية اختار لها صاحبها \"صبحي فحماوي\" شكلا فنيا هو الرواية ففي كل صفحة من صفحاتها قصة مدهشة مثيرة، تولد منها قصة أخرى، فتتوالد الحكايات وتقفز الذكريات من ذكرى إلى أخرى ومن مكان إلى آخر ويتوقف فيها عند محطات بارزة تبدو فيها ردة فعل المؤلفين على الأحداث والأشخاص، فهذه الرواية التي تسرد أحداث يوميات من عام 1982، تأخذ القارئ من مطار عمَان في الأردن، مروا بمطار ميلانو في إيطاليا إلى مطار ميونيخ وتصور كيف كان المؤلف يسكن وزملاءه في مبنى \"مؤتمر قادة شباب الأرياق في العالم\" المدعو للمشاركة فيه، ثم تتجول الرواية لتصور مشاهد تجمع مؤلفها مع رفاق عرب وأجانب في ربوع ألمانيا ومدنها وقراها وقصورها ثم تعود لتتجول في بلدان عربية أخرى.
