تدور أحداث هذه الرواية في بيروت إبان الحرب الأهلية اللبنانية في الثمانينات... لكنها لا تصف الحرب مباشرة بل تتطرق لماما إلى آراء بطل الرواية عن الحرب في سياق موضوع رومانسي حامي الوطيس أثناء الحرب المحتدمة ! صاغ الكاتب روايته بأسلوب رومانسي مغرق في الرومانسية أيضا، مشوب بشيء من الرمزية الطفيفة الضبابية التي تلوح بصعوبة في الآفاق البعيدة للرواية وكان همه الأكبر هو التعبير عن المشاعر الحسية الجياشة تجاه حبيبته، التي كانت تسيطر على أحاسيس بطل الرواية من أولها إلى آخرها. بينما كانت معشوقته غارقة حتى أذنيها في صراع من أجل القضية، وهي حين صممت على اقتحام العاصفة والتماهي فيها كانت موقنة أن ذلك هو التحدي الحقيقي للمرء، وأن قضيتها تستحق كل شيء حتى الموت... وهو العرس... وهو الحب ! هكذا فقط سيستطيع بطل الرواية الاقتناع بالهروب من كوابيسه وخوفه من فراقها... لأنها وحدها من ستقوده إلى حياة مختلفة عما كان يعيشها !
