Overview
هي الرواية الأولى من تنزانيا التي يتم نشرها في سلسلة الكتاب الأفارقة A. W. S لما تتمتع به الرواية من لغة هي مزيج من البساطة والقوة والعذوبة وتدور أحداثها حول الكثير من الأوضاع الإنسانية، حيث يقدم المؤلف المجتمع البدائي ممثلا في قرية كاشا ونجا وهو ريف معزول عن العالم، لكن فيه الكثير من المعاناة، فحياة الإنسان هناك مختلفة عن أي حياة أخرى ومن الشخصيات المحورية للرواية : شاب مطحون، يعاني من المعاملة الجافة من أبيه والذي دفعه إلى هجر القرية، ليعمل في المدينة لعدة سنوات وتريسا تلك الفتاة التي لا أهل لها وتقيم في ماخور ماريا وجيمس موظف الضرائب وغيرهم من الشخصيات التي تصوغ لنا الحياة في هذا المجتمع النائي.
