يتناول الكتاب موضوع (الأفلاج) وهى خزانات مائية بباطن الأرض ناتجة عن الأمطار الموسمية وقد حسمته دولة الإمارات حيث كشفت التنقيبات الأثرية في العقود الثلاث الماضية بمناطق مختلفة من مدينة العين وضواحيها مثل الهيلي وبدع بنت سعود والجبيب ووادي العياي وغيرهم الكثير عن وجود مستوطنات قديمة تضم أفلاجا وبيوتا مصنوعة من اللبن والطين كانت بيت الفـلج ومركزه الإداري يعود معظمها إلى العصر الحديدي أي في الألف الأول قبل الميلاد. والفـلج بحد ذاته يعتبر العمود الفقري الذي بنيت عليه هذه الحضارة وممتدة حتى الآن.
