شغلت «نبوية موسى» بقضية المرأة وتعليمها شغلا كثيرا، وذلك لما أصاب وضع المرأة المصرية من الجمود والتخلف على إثر عادت ومفاهيم كرست لعدم صلاحية المرأة لغير أعمال المنزل والتربية. وعبر عرض تحليلي مفصل بدأته الكاتبة باستعراض مكانة المرأة في الأمم السابقة، وكيف كان اهتمامهم بالمرأة عاملا لتقدم الشعوب وازدهارها، ثم أقامت عماد الكتاب على نقطتين مهمتين ؛ أولاهما أن المرأة كالرجل لا تختلف عنه في القدرات العقلية، ولا يتفوق عليها الرجل ذكاء لمجرد كونه رجلا، والثانية أن المرأة تستطيع أن تمارس غير مهنة، وأن تحترف غير حرفة، وهذه الأفكار ليست ببعيدة عن حياة «نبوية موسى» ؛ إذ تعرضت هي نفسها لمواقف تحط من قدرها كمرأة، فكانت بأفكارها هذه تتصادم مع أفكار مجتمعها وطباعه، إلا أنها تظل إحدى أهم رائدات العمل النسوي المصري على مر التاريخ.
