تبدأ الحكايات عندما دخلت السفن البرتغالية بقيادة القائد المعروف ببطشه وجبروته (أفونسو دا البوكيرك)، عام 1507، حيث جاء لتنفيذ خطة الاستيلاء على أهم منافذ التجارة البحرية الدولية في تلك العصور، ألا وهي جزيرة (هرمز) ومملكتها واسعة الثراء في المنطقة آنذاك. حكايات وحكايات معظمها يذكر لأول مرة ويتم نشرها بهذه الصيغة وهي تشكل انعطافات هامة في منطقة الخليج من حيث بداية اللقاء بالأوروبيين بعد عصر النهضة ومحاولة التبشير المسيحي بالكاثوليكية أو ترسيخ مبدأ الهيمنة والسيطرة البحرية من جانب قطب واحد ضد الآخرين.
