\"مجنون الأمل\" ليست رواية تقليدية كما أنها ليست سيرة شخصية لسجين إنها مزيج من الشعر والسيرة الشهادة والملفت أن الشاعر يشهد على نفسه أولا وفي شهادته هذه يقدم وثيقة أدبية وفكرية وعن مرحلة في تاريخ المغرب الحديث وعن تحولات أساسية تحدث في جسد الثقافة العربية وفي رواية اللعبي \"مجنون الأمل\" ما يشبه الرحلة إنها سفر داخلي يتم على إيقاع مجموعة من العلاقات المرأة السجن المجتمع وداخل هذا الإيقاع تنمو الرواية كرحلة ككشف واكتشاف والسجن يكشف الواقع والسجين يكتشف نفسه في هذا الواقع بعلاقاته المعقدة والرحلة تبدأ في السجن وتنتهي باكتشاف السجن الحقيقي.
