كتاب مهم جدا عمد فيه مؤلفه إلى جمع أربعين حديثا صحيحا عن الرسول صلى الله عليه وسلم وقد اختارها الإمام النووي لأنه رآها مشتملة على جميع المقاصد في الأصول والفروع والجهاد وغير ذلك من الأمور الهامة وأختاره أيضا لأنه رأى أن كل حديث منها يشكل قاعدة عظيمة من قواعد الدين ويتميز الكتاب بأنه لم يورد الأحاديث الصحيحة وقد جاء في نسخة مزيدة ومنقحة مضبوطة بالشكل وقد تم شرح الأحاديث.
