يتناول هذا الكتاب موقف إدارة الرئيس جون كينيدي من الصراع العربي الإسرائيلي 1961-1963 أي منذ تولي كينيدي الحكم في يناير 1961 حتى اغتياله في 22 نوفمبر 1963 ويرجع اختيار هذا الموضوع إلى أن فترة حكم كينيدي على الرغم من أهميتها لم يتم تناولها بعمق في أي من الدراسات المصرية أو العربية وحتى أولئك الذين حاولوا استيضاح تلك الفترة جانبهم الصواب، وتحدثوا عن إدارة كينيدي كونها إحدى الإدارات التي ساندت إسرائيل بقوة والإشكالية الرئيسية التي تحاول تبيانها، هذه الأطروحة هي أن جون كينيدي كان من أكثر الرؤساء الأمريكان الذين أرادوا حلا عادلا للمشكلة الفلسطينية، ما أدى إلى اغتياله.
