شعر د. ه أتش لورانس \"نجد عددا محدودا من القصائد يمثل تقريبا عشر إنتاجه الشعري، قام باختيار القصائد وترجمتها وتنقيحها د. محمد عناني، الذي يقول في مقدمته : \"ولما وجدت أن الشاعر رتب قصائده في الديوان الكامل ترتيبا زمنيا، أي وفق تاريخ نشر هذه القصائد أو تأليفها، فقد احتفظت بهذا الترتيب ولم أشأ أن أسترسل في المقدمة لمناقشة قضايا لا تفيد القارئ أو لا تساعده على تذوق الشعر، بل اقتصرت على تقديم أحدث المداخل النقدية لأدبه وهي التي شاعت في العقود الثلاثة الأخيرة وحصرت دراستي فيها حتى تكون المقدمة ابنة هذا العصر حقا وصدقا\".
