يستحضر إميل حبيبي، من خلال هذه الحكاية المسرحية، على الفور الأديب الأبرز من بين الآباء المؤسسين للرواية الفلسطينية المعاصرة لا بمعنى الأسبقية الزمنية بل بالمعنى الأعمق للتأسيس، الذي يخيل إلى فنية الرواية ذاتها، شكليا وروحيا، وذلك فضلا عن كونه يمثل تيارا أساسيا في الرواية العربية المعاصرة، لحمته وسداة تطعيم الشكل الروائي الحديث بعناصر سردية وغير سردية مجتلبة من التراث العربي والحكايات الشعبية وأشكال السرد الشفوي. ومن جهة أخرى فإن إبداعية الكاتب في عمله هذا ينبع من استحضاره الرمزي لقضايا الأمة العربية بصورة عامة، والفلسطينية على الأخص بلغة لا تخلو من السخرية وهو بذلك يمثل الجاحظ في أدبه النقدي الساخر بلغة معاصرة.
