يسعي هذا الكتاب إلي رصد وتحليل دور الحركات الطلابية الفلسطينية خاصة في فلسطين خلال ما يزيد علي ربع قرن من الزمن وهو بهذا من الكتب القليلة حول الموضوع بل وربما كان الكتاب الصادر الوحيد خلال العقد الحالي وفي هذا دلالة صحيح أيضا أن الحركة الطلابية تبدو الأن وكأنها قد فقدت بوصلتها فهي تفتقد إلى جدول أعمال واضح ودور محدد خاصة بعد قيام السلطة الوطنية الفلسطينية ولكن \" أزمتها\" في الواقع كانت قد بدأت قبل ذلك تحديدا قبل بداية الانتفاضة وإغلاق الجامعات لما يزيد عن أربع سنوات وأخذ بعين الاعتبار خصوصية تاريخ فلسطين المعاصر والأدوار المختلفة للقوي الفاعلة فيه.
