تتناول رواية \"مطر أسود\" والذي قام بتأليفها \"سليم عبود\" في حوالي (312) صفحة من القطع المتوسط موضوع (القصص العربية)، وفي ما يلي مقتطفات منها : \"في آخر مرة التقيت عفراء، خطت بقلم الرصاص كلمات عن الوطن، ورسمت عقدا من أزهار النرجس الجبلي، كانت تجيد رسم النرجس، قلت : أنت رسامة بارعة... ضحكت... في رسم النرجس الجبلي فقط توقفت أمام بائع للزهور، قلت له : أريد باقة من الورود مزينة بالنرجس... اعتذر... لا يوجد لدي أزهار نرجس، لا أحد يطلبها هنا... ذهبت إلى سياج منزل في أطراف المدينة، تعرش عليه شجرة ياسمين، ورأيت أزهار نرجس متفتحة خلف السور، كان الجو غائما ويوحي بعاصفة... فتحت باب الحديقة، سألني صاحب المنزل : ماذا تريد ؟ قلت له : لدي أخت كانت تحب أزهار النرجس، وأريد أن أضع على قبرها باقة منه\". قال : \"انتظر لأحضر لك مقصا، النرجس تؤلمه القسوة\".
