يدحض هذا الكتاب الفكرة الشائعة من أن اهتمام الكتاب والمثقفين العرب بالموضوع الفلسطيني جاء في أعقاب وعد بلفور عام 1917، وأن الاهتمام المصري علي وجه الخصوص جاء تاليا لأحداث ثورة المصريين في عام 1919 وتحديدا بعد صدور تصريح 28 فبراير 1922 وحصول مصر علي استقلال شكلي أما قبل ذلك فقد كان المصريون مشغولين بقضيتهم الوطنية والكفاح من أجل تحقيق استقلال بلدهم فلم ينتبهوا إلي ما يجري علي الجانب الشرقي.
