يستعرض الكاتب نجيب عبدالله الشامسي في كتابه \"الألعاب والألغاز الشعبية\" كيفية ممارسة الأولين لألعابهم الشعبية في الإمارات ذلك من خلال أربعة فصول للألعاب الشعبية للبنين والبنات مدعمة بالصور والرسوم التوضيحية لتلك الألعاب مع وصفها وشرحها وخصص الكتاب الفصل الأول لسمات وخصائص الألعاب الشعبية وتناول في الفصل الثاني الأبعاد التعليمية والتربوية والنفسية للألعاب الشعبية في حين جاء الفصل الثالث لتصنيف الألعاب الشعبية والرابع كان لـ«شرح وتقسيم الألعاب الشعبية التي قسمها إلى ألعاب صبية وألعاب فتيات والألعاب المشتركة بينهما.
