من إن الحقبة الزمنية التي تناولتها فصول هذا الكتاب تعد فترة التاريخ الحديث للبحرين بدءا بأحكام بريطانيا دخول البرتغاليين إلى الخليج العربي مطلع القرن السادس عشر وإنتهاءا عقب خروج القوي الأوروبية المنافسة لها سيطرتها على الإمارات العربية والتي استكملت فعليا وفشل القوى المحلية والدولة العثمانية وفارس بالإضافة إلى محمد علي باشا في احتلال البحرين، واستمر الصراع المحلي والدولي على جزر البحرين لأكثر من أربعة قرون وحتى عام 1914 وقد انتهى بترسيخ النفوذ البريطاني في جزر البحرين وبقية الإمارات العربية.
