تأتي هذه الدراسة كمحاولة لتحليل نقاط الضعف وأوجه القصور لهذه التجربة، ومحاولة تقديم تصورات لمعالجتها وسد ثغراتها، وتهدف الدراسة إلى تتبع مسار التجربة الحزبية في مصر خلال عهدي الرئيسين محمد أنور السادات ومحمد حسني مبارك، ورصد أهم السمات والملامح المميزة لها، ومراحل تطورها، ومنحنيات صعودها وهبوطها، والعوامل التي أثرت في وضعها الحالي، مع تحليل طبيعة العلاقة بين النظام السياسي والمعارضة خلال هذه الفترة، وأبعاد الدور الذي لعبته القيادة السياسية في التأثير في مسار التجربة الحزبية. وتتركز هذه الدراسة في رصد التجربة الحزبية المصرية وتحليلها خلال الفترة 1974-1995 ،مع دراسة طبيعة العلاقة بين النظام والمعارضة، والأطر القانونية والدستورية الحاكمة لمسار التجربة، وإمكانية تداول السلطة بين الأحزاب كأهم المؤشرات لطبيعة هذا التطور ومساره، وذلك من خلال تحليل نتائج الانتخابات التي أجريت خلال هذه الفترة.
