البيت والنخلة، وهي رواية لليافعة، تحكي قصة سيدة عجوز تركت منزلها الذى فى الجبل هى وحفيدها فارس لتنفيذ وصية إبنها وهى تعليم فارس ابنه إتجهت الجدة بهانة إلى المدينة بعد أن باعت كل ما تملكه فى الجبل وفى أثناء الرحلة جلست تحت شجرة لتستريح من الطريق و بعدها وجدت فارس درجة حرارته مرتفعة فاستغاثت بأهل القرية الذين ساعدوها حتى تحسنت صحة فارس وبعدها قررت أن تعيش فى نفس القرية واستطاعت أن تقدم لهم خدمات كثيرة كما ساهمت فى تغيير أفكارهم.
