كتاب \"المخطوطات الجغرافية في مكتبة البودليان جامعة أوكسفورد\" نتاج زيارة عملية قام بها الدكتور عبدالله الغنيم لمركز اوكسفورد للدراسات الإسلامية بجامعة أوكسفورد البريطانية فاستطاع بخبرته الطويلة في مجال تحقيق المخطوطات ومعرفته الواسعة بالمخطوطات المحفوظة في المكتبات الأوربية أن يدرس جميع المخطوطات الجغرافية الموجودة في مكتبة البودليان بجامعة أوكسفورد وأن يصنفها بل استطاع أن يكشف النقاب عن كثير من الجوانب غير المسبوقة فعلى سبيل المثال يشير إلى أن مكتبة البودليان تحتفظ بكثير من مؤلفات أحمد بن ماجد وأراجيزه التي لم يتم استخدامها أو الاستفادة منها من قبل بل لم يسبق التعريف بها من قبل جميع من أهتم بنشر تراث ابن ماجد سواء من المستشرقين أو العرب.
