اختلفت النظرة في حب الوطن بين مغال يرى أن الوطن مقدم على كل شيء، وآخر يحتقر الوطن وينبذه ؛ إذ ما انفكت الساحات الفكرية، ولاسيما الإلكترونية منها، تشهد جدلا واسعا حول العلاقة بين الشريعة والوطن، وفق نظرات شتى، ذهبت أولاها إلى تقديس كل ما يمجد الوطن، واعتبر من يقدم الدين عليه رجعيا، بل يعتبر خائنا ومتآمرا على الوطن مع الأعداء، شرقيين كانوا أو غربيين، وإحلال عبادة الوطن وتقديمها على عبادة الله وحده. بينما ذهبت النظرة الثانية، التي تبناها الإسلاميون، إلى احتقار كل ما يمت إلى الوطن بصلة، ووصف الوطن بكل ما هو قبيح، بل ظهرت كتابات وألفاظ تصف الوطن بالوثن، وتجعل كل من يدافع عن ارتباط الإنسان به منحرفا عن المنهج الإسلامي الصحيح.
