تعد السياحة ظاهرة اجتماعية حديثة رغم إن الإنسان عرفها منذ نشأته الأولى، فهي قديمة قدم التريخ وقد تطور مفهوم السياحة مع تطور الأيام أما السياحة بمهومها الحديث فقد بدأت وتشكلت في دول أوربا الغربية خلال الأعوام اخمسين الماضية كما بدأت في دول أروبا الشرقية بعد سنة 1960م ورغم حداث معرفتها من الناحية العلمية، إلا أنها اقتصادية أخذت في النمو السريع في مختلف أرجاء المعمورة.
