مؤلف هذا الكتاب الرحالة الإيطالي فينزنزو، الملقب بالشيخ منصور، مكث في مسقط عاما وبعض العام ثم غادرها وبدأ بكتابة كتابه هذا عن تاريخ السلطان سعيد بن سلطان، سلطان مسقط وعن تاريخ الشعوب والأقطار على سواحل الخليج العربي وبخاصة الوهابيين. فالكتاب يسرد بعض أخبار السيد سعيد وطريقة وصوله إلى الحكم مع رواية أخبار بعض معاركه مع القواسم والوهابيين. ثم ينتقل إلى سرد تاريخ الوهابيين وتاريخ ظهور المذهب الوهابي وانتشاره مع محاولة توضيح بعض أحكامه، ثم يحاول أن يذكر بعض تاريخ القواسم.‪‪‪‪‪‪‪‪‪‪
